If you are nervous about where to start with a mixed media project, sometimes you can skip the art mediums and just use chipboard, paper and embellishments to create a simple vignette.

I love when I get to create for other people--it is truly one of the most satisfying things to bring pictures to life.

It's that time of year when I need a little magic to help me buckle down and focus.

I am so excited about this release from Tim Holtz and Sizzix! The ability to create a bunch of different little buildings out of one set of dies is just so much fun. 

Fall is a busy time for birthdays in my family. And it's a good excuse for a cozy autumn themed birthday card or two. 

Sometimes you need a funny card to help you get through an age milestone. 

As a gardener and a lover of Halloween, nothing quite sums up my obsession like a deadly floral "book" vignette.

Winter is coming. And that means it's time for some icy blue paper confections! 

It's that time of year when things get a little chaotic in the craft world. You have one foot in Halloween/Thanksgiving/Autumn makes and the other in Holiday/Winter makes.  

Glacial blues melt with this cozy card.

I used to be deadly afraid of moths as a little girl. 

I love Halloween so much I tend to neglect autumn makes. When the Halloween stuff comes down and we put out our few autumn decor pieces, the house feels pretty empty. So I decided I needed to change that this year. 

I've shown how to use journaling cards to make quick and easy cards and party invitations but you can also use ephemera for the same quick but pretty effect!

I went outside of my comfort zone with this brightly colored mixed media canvas.  

I find inspiration in some of the strangest places. But I always think it makes for more creative projects in the end. 

It's not just fall in the craft stores, it's starting to sneak into other shopping areas too. I've already seen pumpkin spice flavored things cropping up in the grocery store.

You might question my thinking that any project with fussy cutting is "quick and easy," but if you choose the right elements and you keep down the quantity, you can actually get a layout done pretty quickly.

Who says Halloween can't be creepy and elegant?

I adore persimmon and teal as a color combination. You'll find both hues throughout my home decor year round, but that rusty orange color always makes me think of crunchy autumn leaves.

When your niece loves the great outdoors, you throw her a small National Park themed party for her birthday and make her pretty invitations!

I've always loved decorative doors. There's just something so intriguing about them and what might lie behind them. 

This month's inspiration and color palette from Scrapbook.com was full of fun, summery colors and elements. 

I'm a gardener so any chance that I get to play with a collection that is all about flowers, I am definitely going to take advantage of the opportunity!

Sometimes you just have a lot of photos that you want to include in a scrapbook page.

I have never gotten this big of a head start on Christmas makes. Usually I wait until after Halloween to start and then I always feel rushed. I'm really enjoying getting some tags and cards done early and I think I'm going to have to make it a point to start doing this every year! 

I am just in love with making tags right now! I think they are fun to add to gifts or send instead of a card, but they are especially fun at Christmas.

As a classical musician, Christmas can be overwhelming. You start rehearsing music in early October, sometimes even in September. Holiday music becomes inescapable at stores. You start humming Sleigh Ride absentmindedly. And Christmas in July just piles on. But this year, it's different for me. 

Mixed media projects don't have to be big or a huge undertaking to make an impact.  

Nothing says summer has arrived like a gorgeous bee-themed project!
