2015 Distress Ink Labels

Tim Holtz, Distress Ink, 2015, labels, DIY storage solution, DIY, storage, scrapbooking, card making

I wanted to get these out sooner but with my grandmother going into hospice at the beginning of the year and her subsequent passing, it made it nearly impossible to update my Distress Ink labels to include Tim Holtz's amazing 12 new colors of 2015.  From Cracked Pistachio to Candied Apple, Tim Holtz has done it again...and I've got a label for each!  (I have to say, I really love Cracked Pistachio and Abandoned Coral--two of my favorite colors!)

So without further ado, here is the updated file!  Just click the image below to download both the 2015 Addendum as well as the original color labels through 2014!

Siren's Song: A Fish Tale

scrapbooking, scrapbook, custom, mixed media, ocean, beach, mermaid, sea, embossing, distress ink, crinkle ribbon, glitter, druzy, stamping, stenciling

Okay, story time--I have a little "Scrap Rehab" confession.  I know, I know...I'm not looking to be cured of the creative paper bug.  But seriously.  Let's be frank.  We all have our scrapbooking obsessions...like paper hoarding [insert shifty eyes here] or embellishment hoarding...or the "I must have every Tim Holtz Distress Ink under the sun and I so fought off the lady next to me in the local scrapbooking supply store for January 2015's color of the month Cracked Pistachio and I'm proud of it!"  Or the surreptitiously wiping the drool from your keyboard or touchscreen after viewing the latest Prima flower confections.

My mom would say I'm guilty of paper hoarding.  I always say you can never have enough of it and sure...there are some that are just too pretty to cut into--like Basic Grey's Out of Print collection.  And yes...I "hoard" some embellishments; but really, I'm just waiting for the perfect project to use them on, I swear!  No I did not fight off anyone in my local scrapbook store to get Cracked Pistachio but I waited around 3 months for the darn ink color to be in stock on any, and I mean ANY online store or local shop's shelves.  When I had it it my hands, along with Abandoned Coral I nearly cried with joy.  (Tim Holtz, you are a genius and I tip my hat to you.)  And I try not to drool on my keyboard every time Prima releases new paper flowers...or buy up every single KaiserCraft paper flower color under the sun...or add every Petaloo flower to my wish list.  Yes!  I have a paper flower problem, okay!?  I have a ba-gillion flower die cut files for my Silhouette too and I could literally make them until my fingers bleed...

New Beginnings

New Beginnings

I've been absent from my blog for some time now.  As many of my readers know, my Oma, (grandmother) was nearing the end of her life as she was 95-years-old.  This past holiday season things started to go downhill very quickly.  My mom and I noticed a steep decline after Thanksgiving.  After my uncle from Texas visited for Christmas, there was an even steeper decline in both the mental capacity and health of my Oma.

In early January, our family made arrangements with my Oma's doctor to have her enrolled in at-home hospice care.  She was, of course, admitted into hospice.  All of our lives changed that day.  From then on out, the time she needed from me for care increased exponentially day-by-day.  My Oma could no longer use her walker and we were moving her about the house in her transfer chair.  She also could no longer get up and toilet on her own and needed help being transferred to the bedside potty.  We were feeding her and each day it became more and more of a liquid and soft food diet as her dentures no longer fit well and because it became harder for her to swallow.

The Vintage Wedding Layout that Almost Wasn't: I made this layout for my Oma and Opa's wedding photo but I almost didn't make this layout. After a huge fight with my Oma, I threw the page in the trash. The next day I fished it out of the trash to finish it.

There were several days where my mom had to come home early because my Oma was too afraid for me to leave her side and I couldn't take my dogs out to potty or even use the bathroom myself.  The hospice workers said to get rest when she slept but there were many times my Oma would fight nature and the meds and would stay awake out of fear.  I know she always wanted to go in her sleep and she was afraid that would be the last time she would see one of us.

Shadowhunters Premier Party: Decor Ideas

Shadowhunters Party: Decor Ideas from Alice Scraps Wonderland

I recently worked in conjunction with the ladies over at This Bittersweet Life to throw an epic Shadowhunters Premier Party!  There was spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, Izze sodas, angelic rune cupcakes, mango sorbet and earl grey tea.  And of course the buffet table was adorned with a few of my decorative and crafty touches!

The first episode of Shadowhunters was absolutely wonderful!  I'm a big fan of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, on which the show is based off of, and the major plot points were there with some wonderful twists to keep me guessing what would happen next.  I just want to give a shout out to the entire cast, crew and writers for doing an amazing job!  If you haven't seen the show, you can watch it live on Freeform (the new name for ABC Family) here in the U.S. on Tuesday nights (check your local listings) or on demand on the Freeform app.  If you live outside the U.S., you can check out the series on Netflix!  Below I've embedded a little preview to whet your whistle if you haven't heard of the series before.

Healing the Soul: Shadowhunters Rune Tags

Healing the Soul: Sizzy Themed Shadowhunters Rune Tags by Alice Scraps Wonderland
I have been counting down the days, no the minutes, the seconds until Shadowhunters premiers on ABC Family soon to be Freeform!  The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare is one of my favorite book series.  After the movie City of Bones didn't do well enough at the box office, we Shadowhunters fans were super disappointed to learn there wouldn't be a second movie.  But we were overjoyed when we learned that a TV series adaption was in the works.

And now we are literally less than a day away from the premier!

Still from Shadowhunters Episode 1001; Courtesy of ABC Family/Freeform.  Clary and Jace meet for the first time outside of the club Pandemonium.

I've already made a pair of Clace (Clary and Jace) tags and a Silent Brother tag.  Now it is Sizzy's (Simon and Isabelle's) turn!  For those of you who don't know anything about this series, it's not just a fantastical work of fiction with demons, vampires, warlocks, werewolves, fairies and shadowhunters, but it has some amazing friendship and love stories in it!  There isn't just a love triangle and that is what makes it so fun to see all these characters navigate their relationships with one another.

In the end, everyone ends up with the person you were really rooting for them to end up with.  Shadowhunter fans are very adamant that it's all about Clace, Sizzy and Malec!
