Hello, Gorgeous! It's Scrapbook Page Reveal Time!

Hello, Gorgeous!
Hello, lovlies!  I hope you have all enjoyed your holiday season, no matter what it is you celebrate!  I have been absent from my blog for some time.  My mom recently had surgery so I was taking care of both her and my 94-year-old grandmother.  Then we were in the full throws of the holiday season!  During all that time I managed to get some crafting done, I just haven't had a chance to share it until now.  So here is what I've been working on since my last post (sometime in September?!).

Let's Stick Together: An Engagement Scrapbook Layout

"Let's stick together, yeah, yeah, yeah! / Why don't you and I combine?"  Doesn't that song just make you want to get up and dance?  Makes me think of the movie The Parent Trap also.  Anyway, that movie is getting a bit off topic.  Last night I finished up another engagement photo layout for my sister and now husband!

Better than Your Dreams: A Vintage Travel Themed Scrapbook Page

I'm absolutely determined to get my sister's wedding album done before she moves to Germany in February with her husband who is in the Army.  Which means that I'm attempting to get all of her engagement photos scrapped while I'm waiting for my cousin to send us the wedding photos.  So I'm happy to say that I can now share another engagement photo layout!

DIY Distress Ink Storage Labels

UPDATE:  To download free labels for Tim Holtz's 12 newest colors, visit my blog post on the 2015 Addendum!

I recently bought a pretty box to store some of my craft supplies in and one of them was perfect for storing all of my inks.  I use my Tim Holtz Distress Inks on practically every layout and card I make so I'm constantly rifling through them and I was getting frustrated with not being able to pick out the ink I wanted without having to pull practically every ink out of the box.

Enjoying the Journey: Travel Themed Scrapbook Layouts

I always have fun experimenting with the different styles of scrapbooking.  I know many leaders in the scrapbooking industry have a "style" and do the same type of layouts over and over again--nothing wrong with that!  I'm still finding my own style so at the moment I'm having fun, plus, I like a little variety in my life!

An Engagement: A Scrapbook Layout + Freebie!

Happy Thursday, to you all!  Yesterday I finished up a scrapbook layout and I can't tell you how happy I was to get back to scrapping!  I have a fun vintage layout to share with you along with a lovely freebie!

It was such a joy to get back to scrapping late yesterday afternoon.  I had had a particularly bad day and it felt good to submerse myself in crafting and forget about my problems for a bit.

A Vintage Tea Party Bridal Shower

I've been absent from my blog for nearly 3 months because I am my sister's maid of honor, I'm in the midst of helping her plan the wedding and throwing her the most amazing bridal shower ever.  I wanted the theme of the bridal shower to be a secret from my sister, Caitlin, so I have been unable to post about the bridal shower until now.  This past weekend was the big bridal shower bash and it went so well, I just had to share some photos of all the amazing decorations!  And because this is such a monster of a post and I've been gone for so long, there is a free Silhouette cut file at the end of the this blog post!

Travel Themed Scrapbook Layouts

I've been absent for some time on my blog due to a rush of getting some planning done for my sister's wedding and bridal shower later this summer.  I've still been working on some layouts--mostly for my sister and her fiancé so they have a scrapbook album to display at the wedding.  I'm still working through the tons of photos from their recent trip to Cali.  Today I have 2 of those pages to share!
mixed media lo golden gate bridge
Mixed media layout:  The background was created with a variety of
products.  The pleated ribbon represents the fog you always
think of when San Francisco comes to mind.
This first page is one of my attempts to do more of a mixed-media layout.  I purchased a Silhouette cut of the golden gate bridge then altered it to add an area for the photo "windows."  Once I got all the various pieces cut out, I started in on the background with a mix of mists, Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Stains and even Martha Stewart Sparkle Texture Effect (to create the white caps on the waves).
I pleated and sewed the ribbon by hand because I just love the look of an uneven pleat!  I added brown, blue and green colored Distress Paint to the top layer to make the whole page seem like a photo.  I added a few other embellishments besides the ribbon and glued it all down.

Mixed media layout:  The background utilized a stencil and the vellum
represents the fog in this case.

This second page is a bit more simple.  I used a lot of the same colors for the background but decided to go for a geometric stencil that closely matches the patterns in the Golden Gate Bridge.  I added layers of paper and vellum, adding sequins to a vellum pocket as well as a pull-out photo tag.  I glued on a few embellishments and called it a day!

For a specific list of products used, check out both pages in my Scrapbook.com Gallery.

Beauty is Everywhere: Coral and Teal Scrapbook Page

Beauty is Everywhere

A Beautiful Color Combination Plus a Freebie!

It's been a while since I've posted anything.  I've been working on plenty of projects but finding the time to write the blog posts has been difficult.  My sister was recently engaged, however she thought her wedding would be next summer.  When her fiancé found out he was being stationed in Germany, they had to move the wedding up to this summer.  So planning and creating decorations has taken top priority in my crafting world.  I'm also the maid of honor so I'm in charge of the bridal shower as well!  There just aren't enough hours in a day!

Part of my sister's wedding is having a scrapbook album for display at the reception.  I've scrapped another beautiful nature photo from Caitlin and Alex's trip to California.  This photo was taken on their drive back home when they started to reach the colder winter temps of the Rocky Mountains.

Hues of Blues and Greens Plus a Freebie!

Happy Thursday!  I have a scrapbook layout and a freebie for you today!  I saw this layout posted on Scrapbook.com that truly inspired me and I just had to try the technique.  I've been saving this technique for a water-themed layout just because it looks so much like bubbles and waves to me.  Thankfully, my sister and her fiancé recently visited the beaches of northern California and brought back some truly lovely photos (so there will be more to come)!

Sweet & Soft Custom Disc Case

This week I created a custom disc case full of soft hues and vellum.  I just love the ethereal feel vellum lends to projects.  I also used 2 6x6 papers from Pink Paislee's Color Wash collection.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

I'm a Broncos girl through and through!  I'm so excited that they have made it to the Super Bowl this year and even though it's just going to be my mom and I hanging out at my grandmother's watching the big game, that doesn't mean I can't get my Orange Crush crafting on.  So to celebrate being Colorado proud here is a free Broncos logo Silhouette cut file!  Enjoy!

Go Broncos and Happy Crafting!

Free Filmstrip Silhouette Cut File

It's freebie time!

Hello, fellow crafters! I know how all of us scrapbookers love taking lots of photos…but what to do with all of those photos of you kids making silly faces or your dogs romping through the snow…hmm….

A filmstrip die cut is a great way to display several photos on one layout. The classic film strip is great for any style layout. You can keep it clean and simple or you can work out your obsession with Tim Holtz products and distress everything for a more vintage look. Either way, you can't go wrong!

So to help you share those piles of photos I've created a filmstrip die cut as a Silhouette Studio file. It's

Steampunk Wedding: Custom Disc Case

Steampunk Wedding
I just wanted to share with you a few photos of a project I made in December last year.  This was a pretty intensive, custom-made disc case for one of my cousin's clients.  I went all out on this steampunk themed case which I created to [almost!] perfectly match the wedding.

Creating a Bokeh Background on Paper

Creating Bokeh Backgrounds on Paper

I often create custom disc cases to hold CDs of my cousin's photography for her clients.  In this particular case, I did a lot of experimenting to see how I could yes recreate a bokeh effect on paper to match her photography.  Here is what I ended up with!

Birds of a Feather: Handmade Engagement Card

Birds of a Feather

Last week my sister and her fiancé went on a trip to his home state, California.  While on the Golden Gate Bridge Alex got down on one knee and officially proposed to my sister, Caitlin.  So I of course had to make them a "Congratulations on your engagement!!!!!"  card.

I think this card would work well for any romantic occasion, wether it's a congrats on your engagement or wedding, well wishes for an anniversary or even a Valentine's Day card.  The use of soft pinks and

Whiteout: A Scrapbook Page

I finished my first full layout of the year and it's a whiteout!  I wanted to start off the new year with a crisp, clean look so I opted for an all white background with a few black accents to match the black and white photo.  I just love this photo of my sister and I from the 2012 Shining Ball at the Stanley Hotel and I wanted to make sure it stood out.

To create the background I used a Prima stencil and applied white gesso with a palette knife/spatula.  While it dried I cut out the viewmaster die cut with my Cameo.  I glued one layer of acetate to the white
die cut using Glossy Accents, placed my sequins and then added another layer of acetate, glueing it down with Zots.  I adhered the die cut to the page with Glossy Accents.  I mounted my photo on white cardstock and glued that down using Pop Dots to give the page some dimension.
