Get Sparkly Distress Spritz Embellishments in No Time with this Easy Tip
Love Distress Spritz but short on crafting time? This quick and easy tip will help your crafts sparkle!
Hello, crafty friend! I have a new tutorial for you using tons of Scrapbook.com exclusive products plus Tim Holtz Distress Spritz. What I want you to take away from this tutorial, is that you don't have to spend tons of time on creating intricate Distress backgrounds in order to use Distress Spritz.
And to show you just how easy it is to create sparkly die cut embellishments, I've got a new tutorial video up on the Scrapbook.com YouTube channel! But I'll go into just a little bit of detail here about the card I create in the tutorial video, and the scrapbook layout that uses the same technique. (You can shop the products I used for both the card and the layout below.)
I used the same techniques for both the card and the scrapbook layout, I just chose a slightly different color scheme for the layout to match the coloring of the photo.
For the card, I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide, Tattered Rose Distress Spritz, and Bundled Sage Distress Oxide and Spritz. For the layout, I switched out the Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick for Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide and Spritz.
Both the card and the layout feature a hint of texture to the background. I applied Cloud Whip through a stencil onto Scrapbook.com's white Mixed Media Cardstock. I also used the A2 Nested Arches, Inspirational Life Sentiments and Basic Bold Alpha die sets for both the card and layout, cutting each arch frame and word/letter out multiple times to create a sturdy and dimensional die cut. The top layer is one of the colors from the Pastel Glossy Cardstock. In one of the smaller arches, I added a background by applying a gold Rub-On Transfer.
Now for the easy sparkly embellishments using Distress Spritz! The first part of this technique is a trick that some crafters have used for years, and that is creating ombre/gradient looks with high saturation by inking on colored cardstock.
I used the Market Bloom Florals, cutting a bunch of flowers and leaves out for both the layout and the card. For the card I used the Jolly and Candy A2 Smooth Cardstock pads. For the layout, I used the Jolly, Playful and Roses Smooth Cardstock.
Then I used the Tiny Details Flawless Finish Blending Brushes to add a bit of inking to the edges of the die cuts. This helps create more depth and dimension to your die cuts.
But why stop there when you can take it a step further? Simply spray on some Distress Spritz to your inked die cuts! There is no need to spend tons of time creating intricate Distress backgrounds just to use your Distress Spritz sprays.
All that was left was to assemble my card and layout and add some sparkly gems. Don't forget to check out the tutorial video over on YouTube so you can see this technique in action, and until next time, happy crafting!
