Glossy Handmade Christmas Card Tutorial
This quick and easy glossy, shiny Christmas card is perfect for a last minute need!
Hey, crafty friends! I just wanted to share a quick and easy Christmas card idea. Inevitably, we all have someone we forgot, didn't realize they were sending us a card, or the office suddenly sprung a Secret Santa on you.
But for this card, you'll need the following (I'll have all the supplies I used below, in case you want to replicate this card or see something you really love):
- Some paper with a simple background pattern
- A sheet of vellum
- A sheet of acetate
- Some ornament and bow dies (like Scrapbook.com's Christmas Ornaments die set)
- Some gold cardstock
- Some glossy cardstock (such as Scrapbook.com's Pastel Glossy Cardstock pad)
Here's how to create this quick card:
- Cut a piece of the patterned paper to 4 x 5.25 inches and distress the edges of the paper if you wish, then glue it to your card base.
- Cut a piece of vellum and acetate to 3.75 x 5 inches.
- Die cut your ornaments and bows from your glossy and gold cardstocks, plus some patterned paper.
- Assemble your ornaments and bows using liquid glue.
- Trim some thin strips of gold cardstock and attach one to the back of each ornament to "hang" them.
- Use foam and liquid glue to adhere your ornaments and bows to your acetate, then trim the excess gold strips off with scissors.
- Use liquid adhesive to adhere your acetate to your vellum, hiding the liquid adhesive under the pattern of the acetate and/or the ornaments.
- Use liquid adhesive to then do the same to glue the vellum to the background paper.
And that's it! Super quick and easy but oh so pretty with all that glossy cardstock and acetate. Until next time, happy crafting!
