Day 1 The Swan: 14 Days of Love Memorydex Valentine's Advent Calendar

by - 6:00:00 AM

I love advent calendars but they aren't just for Christmas! I used the new With Love collection by Frank Garcia for Prima to create sweet little cards for my blush pink Memorydex.

I am finally jumping on the Memorydex craze and after creating just one card, I became addicted! I see why everyone who has already been making these cards loves them so much. It's like a mini layout or mixed media project to get your creative juices flowing. And let's face it, everything tiny is super cute!

Over the next 14 days, I'll be sharing my Valentine's Advent Calendar creations, so be sure to drop by my blog every day for the next 13 days to see my creations. First up is this swan pocket Memorydex card.

I started by cutting out some paper from the 8x8 With Love pad. I chose some tone on tone pink damask with sweets on the back. I chose a frame from one of the ephemera packs, trimming off some of the excess and using the Memorydex punch to add in the holes at the bottom. I then sewed it onto the main part of the card to create a pocket using some light mint colored thread.

Next, I chose a dusty pink cardstock from Scrapbook.com's Warms A2 Cardstock pad and cut out a rainbow. I added stitching in the same thread to each ring of the rainbow and then gave it a pearly glow by sponging on a metallic frost ink. Then I glued it down to the Memorydex card base with the 1/4" adhesive roll.

Because the shape of the rainbow die and the swan ephemera piece I chose as the main star of the card remind me of those vintage "tunnel of love" rides, I decided to use the admission ticket ephemera, layering it on with some small foam square adhesive to add dimension and layers. I Aldo added a bunch of flowers ephemera piece, also adhering it with small foam square adhesive.

I sponged on the metallic frost ink to the swan ephemera and glued it down with small foam square adhesive, popping it up off the first layer of ephemera for more dimension. I layered on a few flowers, using Smart Glue to adhere them, then finished off the front of the card with a heart puffy sticker and a Tim Holtz tiny clip

For the pocket, I chose a tag from one of the ephemera packs and added a little lace ribbon to make it easy to pull out of the pocket. This tag is perfect for adding a tiny love note on the back.
