Quick and Easy Spring Floral Atrium Card Idea
I love the delicate ironwork of atriums. The geometric design creates a lovely background and adds texture to any card, so this was a must-have die for me.
Hi, crafty friend! I just wanted to share a quick card idea and supply list with you all! While this die and the embossing folder were part of the Spellbinders January Club of the Month, don't worry, because you can still get both a la cart! (I've got a list of all the supplies used listed at the bottom of this blog post.)
Here's the quick and easy tutorial!
- Emboss a 5x7 piece of white cardstock with the Stylized Lattice 3D Embossing Folder
- Die cut the florals and atrium from various cardstocks using the Botanical Atrium Die. (See my notes about the cardstock colors below!)
- Glue the layers of your flowers together and the 2 atrium layers together.
- Stick the atrium to your embossed card front with foam adhesive.
- Glue your flowers down in a little cluster along the bottom right, using foam and liquid adhesives.
- Stamp out your sentiment from the Nature's Dance stamp set, then cut it out with the coordinating die (also from the January club).
- Add your sentiment to your card.
- Add Dimensional Dot and Color Essential Gems to the centers of the small flowers.
- Pop on a few extra gems.
Spellbinders just released their new set of cardstock colors, Color Wheel Cardstock. I'm trying to use up the old cardstock I do have, so if you don't have the colors I used, here is what you can replace those cardstock colors with (all of them are linked at the bottom of this blog post):
- Snowdrift (white background) can be replaced with Classic White from Color Wheel.
- Onyx (atrium layer) can be replaced with Raven from Color Wheel.
- The blue background of the atrium is Sizzix Arctic Sky from their Assorted Cardstock pack, which is still available.
- Sage (leaves) can be replaced with Sizzix Agave from their Assorted Cardstock pack.
- Purple Mist (large flowers) can be replaced with Lavender from Color Wheel.
- Peach Sorbet (darker small flowers) can be replaced with Bellini from Color Wheel.
- Barely Peach (lighter small flowers) can be replaced with Chiffon from Color Wheel.
I hope that you adore this color palette! I'm actually really sad that Spellbinders discontinued their Sage cardstock and that they don't have a dusty green color match to it. But I do love mixing smooth and textured cardstock, and I think that the Sizzix Agave is a nice match and would add additional subtle texture. Until next time, happy crafting!
