Sweater Weather ATC Tutorial with Prima Marketing

by - 8:30:00 AM

Sweater weather has arrived and I wanted to make some cute little ATCs to celebrate. Here’s how to make your own sweater-shaped ATCs or cards.

Sweater shaped artist trading cards created with white Sizzix cardstock; a Spellbinders embossing folder; and Prima Marketing flowers and lace from the Christmas Market collection, rub on transfers and ephemera from the Hello Pink Autumn collection, and Finnabair snowflake paste.

I love cozy sweaters during the chilly months. There is something so comforting about wearing a sweater, curling up under a blanket and sipping on a hot beverage. To recreate that cozy feeling, I decided to make some sweater-shaped ATCs using a handful of supplies from Prima, white cardstock, and some dies.

To start, I selected a sweater shape cut file from Silhouette and sized it to fit in a Spellbinders embossing folder. You could totally turn this cut file from Silhouette into a tag for a holiday gift, or into a holiday card! It’s super easy to customize cut files in Silhouette Studio, especially if you have the designer edition of the software.

I cut the sweater and layers from some thick white cardstock from Sizzix that would stand up to 3D embossing.

Once I had the cut shapes, I sent the sweater shapes through the knit embossing folder that comes with the current Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cut machine. I glued on the layers at the neckline and sleeves using liquid adhesive.

Next I chose a piece of ephemera and two rub on transfers from Hello Pink Autumn collection. I applied the transfers to the same white cardstock and fussy cut them out. I also cut the excess white halo off the ephemera piece.

Using the same white cardstock, I also die cut some berry sprigs from Scrapbook.com’s Autumn Leaves die, some Tim Holtz Mini Paper Snowflakes, and three bows from Scrapbook.com’s Bow Toppers die to add in to the embellishment clusters.

To embellish the sweaters, I used a piece of foam adhesive to pop the ephemera or transfers up off the sweaters.

Then I added some lace trim from the Christmas Market collection. I then layered on flowers from the same collection. I tucked in the die cut berry sprigs and snowflakes I added the little die cut bows right on top. I also tucked in some drop lace.

For some sparkle, I applied a bit of Finnabair’s Snowflake Paste. Then I tucked in some crystals and some Memory Hardware Pearls. And that’s it! So simple, yet so pretty. Until next time, happy crafting!
