How to Create Sweet Pineapple Texture in Your Mixed Media

It's easy to mimic pineapple texture with paper, modeling paste and a stencil!

Pineapples have such great texture and I really wanted to replicate that in a mixed media project, just with my signature shabby chic and pastel style! The Paradise Found paper from The 3 Girls Tale Postcards from Paradise collection has a lovely netting texture that reminds me of a pineapple.

So one of the first things I did for this project, other than cutting out some paper to cover the MDF pineapple shape, was to fussy cut out this netting so I could add it to the body of the pineapple to mimic the hatched texture on a real pineapple.

I also added an extra dose of texture to the background paper with some Modeling Paste and the Art Deco Wall stencil. The fan shape reminds me of the leaves on top of a pineapple.

The flower cluster is full of pretty chartreuse and aqua flowers from the Postcards from Paradise collection. I shaped the Pastel Clouds sprig to match the curves of the pineapple shape, layering over some of the lime green flowers.

I tucked in one of the larger netting fussy cuts in the flower cluster along with some other pieces of ephemera. I topped the flower cluster with my favorite Soft Breeze flower from this collection. I dry brushed on Snow White Impasto to some of the flowers then tucked in some jewels and a chipboard sticker sentiment.

The finishing touch was adding a few more of the netting fussy cuts to the base of the pineapple with some foam adhesive to pop it up a bit.

Now this pineapple is pastel and floral perfection!
Until next time, happy crafting!
