Combining 3 of The 3 Girls Tale Collections from Prima Marketing

The current three collections from The 3 Girls Tale are all very different and unique, but what if you wanted to combine elements from all three into one project?

I wanted to challenge myself to use elements from all three Prima Marketing The 3 Girls Tale collections--Lost in Wonderland, Postcards from Paradise, and Aquarelle Dreams. And I think the results are absolutely wonderful!

So what makes it possible to combine elements from 3 different collections? There are some coordinating colors that allowed me to create a gradient of pink, purple and teal. And because the printed elements are often watercolor style, that lends beautifully to the color gradient. Finally, elements such as moulds make it easy to mix and match collections!

For this project, I started out by apply modeling paste through Finnabair’s Dandelion stencil onto a 5x7 inch canvas.

While the modeling paste dried, I fussy cut the hummingbird out of one of the 4x6 Aquarelle Dreams journaling cards. I also cut a banner from the 12x12 paper pad and die cut some leaves from some of the patterned papers from the same collection. I added some clear glitter brush marker to the hummingbird and a butterfly ephemera piece from Lost in Wonderland for a hint of sparkle.

Once the paste was dry, I began to layer on flowers. I used pink and teal from Lost in Wonderland as well as teal and purple from Aquarelle Dreams. I also tucked in some leaf sprig moulds from Postcards from Paradise and purple and pink floral ephemera from Aquarelle Dreams and Lost in Wonderland.

At the top of the floral cluster, I added a diamond mould from the Lost in Wonderland Deck of Cards mould, placing it sideways. The hummingbird, banner and one small flower was placed on top of that.

I added crystals from Lost in Wonderland (white) and Postcards from Paradise (pink and aqua). Then I added watercolor in pink, aqua and purple to the canvas and moulds. I matched the color on the canvas to the placement of the flowers, letting the watercolor pool in the crevices.

A finishing touch was adding metallic watercolors to the flowers and canvas. Hope this inspires you to mix and match your collections; and until next time, happy crafting!
