Hey, crafty friends! I know that even us crafty people can get stuck inside the paper crafting box. When we are in that box, it can be hard to imagine other possibilities for our supplies. Today, let's chat about 2 tips you can use to change up the theme of a die. To demonstrate, I'll be turning the Fall Treats die from an autumn die to a spooky Halloween card and a summer card! 

Let's start with the Halloween card, as it's the new project. I wanted to make a spooky pumpkin spiced hot chocolate with whipped cream using the Fall Treats die. (P.S. You can find a full supply list at the bottom of this blog!) 

The first, simple step is to chose a color palette that matches your seasonal theme. In the case of this card, it's black, white and grey with a touch of orange. So I paired black and white papers from the Willow Lane paper pad to create the background of the card. 

The next thing you can do is to add in other dies from your stash that match your theme. In this case, I added the Tim Holtz Vault Gothic Portraits and Coffin Box dies for the sentiment and skull and bones. Then mug, whipped cream, wicked sentiment, skull and bones, and background were all die cut from Black and White Mixed Media paper to match my spooky color palette. Pro Tip: Use the smaller rectangle in the Pocket Card Rectangles die set to quickly cut a background to glue your dies to--this die is the perfect size to spotlight your elements! 

For touches of sparkle, I splattered the clear glitter brush on the mug and whipped cream, as well as the white background. Then I die cut the wicked sentiment from some holographic paper.

For that pop of orange, I die cut the tiny pumpkin from the Fall Treats die from some orange paper in the Willow Lane paper pad. Then I assembled everything using various adhesives for dimension and added the stamped word Sweet below the die cut wicked sentiment. For additional touches, you can add twine and gems like I did!

Now let's take this die into summer! I created a fun card in pink hues during the March 2024 SBC Fest modeled after Angelica Conrad's class.
