Generations: A Wedding Scrapbook Layout

Bad weather is the perfect time to stay indoors and work on scrapbook pages. I even managed to film a process video for this one!

The recent spate of bad weather in Colorado, dubbed the "snow-icane" or "bomb cyclone" because of the hurricane strength winds and very low pressure, allowed me to get some good scrapbooking time in. The winds howled and blowing snow created white-out conditions and left us with a mess and everything coated in ice. Needless to say, even after the storm moved out of the area, there was no leaving your house. So I decided to scrapbook and do other crafts!

This lovely layout features a photo that is very near and dear to my heart. It was one of the last photos we took with my Oma (grandmother) before she passed away. This was at my sister's wedding and I'm so happy that the three generations of women in my family got a photo together on this very special day.

I started out by fussy cutting a whole bunch of flowers from Prima's Optimist collection of papers. I layered these fussy cut flowers around the photo, using pop dots to add dimension. I also used some flowers from their Something Blue collection that I cut in half and added around the photo as well.

To add more texture and dimension, I added a pretty purple flower from Prima's Venice collection and a pearl flower center from Maya Road. I also added some flower stamens and a pretty cabochon with a hummingbird on it. My Oma always had some hummingbird sun catchers in her windows, so I always think of her when I see them.

I then stamped the word "generations" and heat embossed it, cutting the black strip into a flag and tucking the other end under a flower. To finish it all off, I added some pretty gems from Prima's Stationer's Desk collection.

Be sure to check out my process video below! I included some famous classical music by Austrian composers, in honor of my Oma who was Austrian.

I hope you enjoyed this layout. I just love how the dark background paper really makes all of us in the photo pop! If you like the photography and live in the Houston area, be sure to check out my cousin's website, Kelly Urban Photography. She is an amazing photographer that really knows how to capture all the special moments perfectly!
