On the Coast: A Simple Scrapbook Layout with Real Shells
Sometimes a photo is just so pretty that you don't want a whole bunch of embellishments on the page distracting you from the photo. And that is exactly what this photo was.
I noticed a lot of warm pink hues in the photo, but I didn't necessarily want a pink background. So I chose a warm purple-pink background paper and matching cardstock to bring out those pink hues. I also chose some matching warm purple flowers and a few other embellishments to match and added some real, tiny sea shells collected from this trip.
I started out by matting the photo on cardstock then used the same cardstock to cut out a die of fish netting. I placed the netting under a corner of the matted photo then layered on some embellishments. To go with the nautical theme, I chose a wood veneer anchor and replicated that shape with a chipboard button that had a navy anchor on it and a pink patterned background.
To add more pink and navy, I chose a matching layered cardstock sticker and a pink button. I also added a copper compass rose, choosing to point west up, toward the direction of west in the photo. I also liked how the triangles in the compass rose repeated the triangle pattern in the background paper. I also added the flowers and then used pop dots to adhere the tiny sea shells.
