Interactive Pocket Page Album Ideas
With the holiday season coming to a close, getting your memories into an album is a top priority! A pocket page album will help you easily store your memories, but I always like to take things up a notch, so let's take a look at some fun and even interactive elements you can include in your scrapbook.
Hi, crafty friend! I hope you have had a wonderful holiday season so far! I just wanted to pop in right before the season comes to end to bring you some inspiration for storing all those holiday photos you took!
Not only am I going to share an easy to make pocket page album, but give you some ideas to help dress it up a bit more and make it special. Plus, you'll see how I combine 3 different Prima holiday collections. Because while it's nice to use the latest collection, it's also important that we use up those things in our stash so they don't gather dust!
As always, I'll have a list of all the supplies used to create this project below for you. Now, let's get into these ideas as I take you though each page of this album. First up, the cover.
I used the Scrapbook.com 6x8 Red Velvet album for this project. The hue of this album is just stunning and the velvet is so luxurious. But let's talk about taking this cover up a notch. In the past, I've done some albums with a big medallion on the front that can be tied on and removed for when you want to open the album.
But this velvet is so gorgeous, I wanted to keep it simpler this time. So I created a small layered tag that is tied on with a bit of seam binding. I added some jingle bells from my stash and the tag features a stitched die cut, ephemera (from Twinkle & Treats and From the North Pole collections), a little candy cane sticker, and of course some pretty Prima flowers and sprigs from Twinkle & Treats.
For the first page of an album, I always like to create a title page. I used the Sizzix Folk Numbers die to and Festive cardstock to add the year with a chipboard sticker from Twinkle and Treats. The floral ephemera is in the From the North Pole collection and the sweet little elf is from Twinkle & Treats. The stitched die is cut from Sizzix Festive Opulent cardstock and some of the Twinkle & Treats patterned paper. All of this is glued on top of the page protector.
Pro Tip: Use 1 and 2 millimeter thick foam adhesive to add a bit of dimension to your embellishment cluster. Use permanent adhesive roller to adhere items to the page protector.
Just like page 1 page 2 has items glued to the page protector. I added some stitched light dies in classic Christmas colors plus some ephemera and a chipboard sticker. The photos from these 2 pages I took at our town's annual tree lighting. (Yes, my little town does this every year outside of city hall!)
Between pages 2 and 3 is a fun little DIY flip I created using an envelope and post card in the From the North Pole collection. I sandwiched the envelope between a fold of 25 & Peppermint patterned paper and punched holes to add it to the binder. I added one of the postcards to the envelope and glued cardstock and a photo to the back of the postcard. The photo is of my niece's letter to Santa this year!
Page 3 has a snowflake acetate sheet, a 3x4 journaling card and an interactive element. I used a sticker to hold the interactive fold out in place. The interactive element is made from two 4x6 journaling notecards glued together, scored and folded.
Pro Tip: Use cornstarch or baby powder to "remove" the sticky on the back of your stickers! Add a bit of foam adhesive to the back first, apply the powder, then remove the backing on the foam and stick it in place!
Pages 4 and 5 builds off the acetate and includes a couple of photos of my niece at the town Christmas tree. I added a die cut snowflake with an elf from the Twinkle & Treats ephemera pack to page 4. Page 5 has a 4x6 journaling card cut in half and divided between two 3x4 pockets. On top is an embellishment cluster with a flower and ephemera from the 3 collections I used in this project.
The interactive element is a little flip up in one of the top pockets. For this, I used a chipboard sticker to hold the flip in place. I also added some puffy stickers from 25 & Peppermint to these pages, and a postage sticker in the postcard kit in From the North Pole.
Don't think you can add pom pom trim? Think again! I used a hot glue gun to add some pom trim to the bottom of a vertical 4x6 pocket. On top of the pocket, I also added a From the North Pole rub on transfer, plus ephemera and stickers. I kept page 6 pretty simple, with a few photos from the tree lighting and small embellishments.
The back of the 4x6 flip is one of the From the North Pole 4x6 journaling notecards. I used two of the same card, sliding one inside the pocket, then cutting the main element out on the duplicate and gluing it over the page protector with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension. Page 7 has an embellishment cluster and photo of our tree at home glued on top of the page protector.
Pages 8 and 9 might be my favorites just because of these photos! Page 9 has a stationary kit envelope from Twinkle and Treats tucked behind the photo, glued on top of the page protector. I added one of the sheets of stationary to add a some journaling to later. The photo is a little flip, held in place with a 25 & Peppermint chipboard sticker.
You might have also noticed that besides floral ephemera, I've also die cut some leaves and pine sprigs that I used here and on earlier pages. These are cut from cardstock and patterned paper--I even used some of the journaling cards to die cut from!
Page 9 has two sheets of the vellum from the Twinkle & Treats 6x8 paper pad stuck into the long 3x8 pocket. I trimmed the vellum in half and stuck them back to back so it looks nice on both sides of the page protector. Then I added a 3x4 journaling card, some die cut snowflakes, and a little photo flip created from patterned paper. I added ephemera and stickers to this flip.
You can see the other side of the vellum on page 10. I added a 3x4 journaling notecard, ephemera, die cut leaves, and stickers. It features a photo of the stockings on our mantel.
In between the two pages is a large tree die cut flip. I cut it from the Twinkle & Treats 12x12 paper. I used some leftover acetate to make strips that I hole punched and attaches it to the binder.
Both sides of the tree flip are decorated with all kinds of embellishments and some flowers and die cuts.
Pages 12 and 13 have a bunch of die cuts! Die cuts are a great way to add customization to your album and I love to cut them from patterned papers too. Page 12 features some ornaments cut from various Sizzix cardstock and Twinkle & Treats patterned papers.
And page 13 features more of that acetate, a 4x6 journaling notecard, and a stitched tree die cut.
We are in the home stretch for this particular album. Page 14 mimics page 13, with the acetate showing through and a little stitched snowflake on the back of the 4x6 journaling notecard.
Page 15 is the start of my baking section of photos, so I created a cute little embellishment cluster using gingerbread ephemera from Twinkle & Treats as the focus. I added it to a layered arch die cut from patterned paper, then added additional ephemera and a sticker.
What I love about this section is that I used the stationary kit from Twinkle & Treats to add places to include recipes from our holiday baking. Page 16 is just another cute embellishment cluster of ephemera and then I added one of the From the North Pole sticker roll stickers near the bottom--these are clear so they are perfect for layering on top of pocket pages!
The 4x6 vertical insert has a piece of 12x12 Twinkle & Treats paper on the front and a rub on transfer over it. Inside is a little insert with one of the stationary kit envelopes attached to it. Just glue the flap of the envelope to insert and add your stationary paper for your recipe!
The back of the 4x6 insert has a From the North Pole journaling notecard. I added little die cut bow to the gingerbread man, gluing it to the page protector. Then page 17 has another of the stationary kit envelopes and stationary paper, a photo of my niece with her decorated cookies, ephemera and stickers.
The last page has pictures of my DIY that box I created earlier this month and another envelope for a recipe.
I think this is such a fun way to not only hold onto memories of your holiday baking, but the recipes themselves!
Wow what a post! Since social media and online galleries often limit the number of photos, I really wanted to make sure I shared all the photos somewhere so you can really get a peek into this album. I hope this inspires you to get your photos off your phone and into some pocket pages. Until next time, happy crafting!
