Dollar Store DIY Nutcracker Christmas Lamp
Take a basic dollar store metal lantern from boring to sparkling with this fun Christmas DIY using Redesign with Prima moulds.
Hello, crafty friend! There is nothing I love more than a good dollar store DIY project. And this one is no exception.
I added some moulds I painted to a basic metal lamp from my local Dollar Tree. These lamps can be decorated for any season you want but since there's nothing better than a warm light around Christmas, I used the Nutcracker Magic Mould from Redesign with Prima for this project.

I cast the nutcrackers using the Redesign with Prima Casting Mix to make my moulds. Once set, I used various blue, white and silver paints from several Art Philosophy sets, including The Classics, Vintage Pastels and Metallic Accents.
I also added Finnabair's Silver Spoon Metallique Acrylic Paint and her Old Silver Metallique Wax to several of the highlights and larger areas that I wanted to be really silvery.
I glued these casts on using Finn's Heavy Body Gel, which is a fantastic adhesive! Then I painted visible backs of the moulds with Finn's Heavy Black Gesso to match the lantern.
Then I tied some matching indigo and silver velvet ribbon on top of the lantern for a little festive flair.
Other than the detailed paint job of the nutcrackers that takes a little time, this DIY is so simple to do--you just need a little patience for the painting part. Until next time, happy crafting!
