Hardbound Swatch Card Journal with New Sizzix Collection!
Let's put together the new Sizzix Eileen Hull Handbound Journal! It's perfect for journaling, color swatching and so much more, and is honestly a really versatile mini album type die.
Hey, crafty friend! Today I've got a brand new tutorial video up on my YouTube channel but I wanted to share some more photos of this color swatch journal with you, plus talk a little about the swatch cards--which is not in my video.
This journal is made using the latest Eileen Hull Sizzix collection and it includes the base journal die, extra hardware, the swatch spinner, a stencil and some swatching stamps and sentiments.
You can shop all of the supplies that I used in this project at the bottom of this post.
So let's talk about the inserts real quick.
I made these swatches on 5.5 by 9 inch pieces of Solar White Cardstock. I used my Sizzix Scoring Board and Trimmer Tool to cut these out and then score at the 4.5 inch mark.
I then stamped out some of the swatch card elements from the Swatch Cards stamp set. I also used some of the stamps from the Sizzix Studio Artist Tools set as well. I did these stamped images on every other page, then placed one sheet inside the other, creating a register.
I created 3 registers, 2 with swatching in them using the Lindy's Gang Magicals Boho Dreams and Gypsy Vibes sets. I left one register completely blank for notes or journaling.
The album base itself is made from white chipboard and while I covered both front and back of the binding and the outside of the covers with patterned paper, I left the inside of the covers plain white to get the truest of colors of the swatching on the inside. Patterned paper would have bounced different color light onto the registers.
For the decoration on the outside of the album, I die cut the larger spinner from the Rainbow Wheels Thinlits and some of the Fine Stems Thinlits from some backgrounds I made using the Boho Dreams Magicals. I thought this set matched the Prima Marketing Bohemian Heart collection well.
I added on Prima flowers from that same collection, some of the Journal Hardware pieces, and a few crystals.
The registers are attached to the binding of the journal with seam binding ribbon. This is so that the registers can be easily removed for journaling or additional swatching without having to worry about messing up the decorations on the outside cover.
And that's it! Don't forget to watch the video tutorial for the assembly process, and until next time, happy crafting!
