Lovely Vignette with Tim Holtz Vault Embossing Folders Tutorial

The texture on this vignette box will have you swooning! Here's how to recreate this vignette box covered in embossed cardstock.

Hello, crafty friend! In this project, "Shabby Chic" Adrienne and "Goth" Adrienne collided! I wanted to make something dramatic and so this box is covered in embossed black cardstock then decorated with shimming pastel flowers!

But let's just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the Vault Diamonds and Vault Flourish Texture Fades embossing folders...

...okay, moment taken! Let's jump right into this tutorial! (You can shop all of the supplies used at the bottom of this post!)

Cut 4 pieces of black cardstock from the Sizzix Festive Surfacez cardstock pack to fit inside these embossing folders.
Mist the cardstock with water, place inside one of the embossing folders, and run through your Sizzix die cut machine (I used my Big Shot Switch); create 2 embossed sheets of each of the Diamonds and Flourish embossing folder.

Trim the Flourish embossed cardstock to fit inside and on the back of the 4 inch Square Vignette Box.
Trim the Diamond embossed cardstock to fit the sides of the Vignette Box, inside and outside.
Trim strips of the Brushed Metal from the Sizzix Opulent Black Surfacez cardstock pack to fit the front edges of the Vignette Box.
Using Collage Medium, attach all of the embossed and Opulent cardstocks to the Vignette Box.

Pro Tip: Using a heavy stamp block and other heavy items in your craft stash will help laminate the cardstock to the outside of the Vignette Box. For the inside, use a small stamping block or a square stamp press tool to help press the cardstock firmly to the Box.

Mist some other Sizzix cardstock colors with Tim Holtz Distress Spritz. Here's what I used:

Green: Sizzix Muted Surfacez + Bundled Sage Distress Spritz
Yellow: Sizzix Assorted Surfacez + Antique Linen Distress Spritz
Light Peach, Medium Peach and Dark Coral: Sizzix Summer Surfacez + Saltwater Taffy Distress Spritz

Let the Spritz dry then die cut one of the small flowers and some leaves from the Vault Floristry Side-Order set from these shimmery cardstocks using your Sidekick or other Sizzix die cut machine.
Glue the flower centers to the flowers using Sizzix Express Glue and the Intricate Multi-Tool (the rubber tip is perfect for grabbing and placing small die cuts).
Place the die cut flowers and stems upside down on the foam mat of the shaping kit. Using the largest size shaping tool, add shape to the flowers and leaves using small circular motions.
Flip the flowers and leaves over. Using a smaller size shaping tool press down into the center of the flowers to curl the petals up. Use circular motions on some of the leaves of the sprigs to create natural shape.

Cut the template for the small Pocket Watch from the packaging. Trace that circular shape onto a piece of mint tape and onto a leftover piece of the Diamond embossed cardstock; cut the circles out.
Using Collage Medium, glue the embossed black cardstock to the inside back of the Pocket Watch. Then glue a flower and small leaf to the embossed cardstock.
Place the Mint Tape circle onto the glass front of the Pocket Watch.
Paint Heavy Black Gesso over the front piece of the Pocket Watch and one of the insects from the Entomology set, wiping the excess paint off with a paper towel before it dries; peel the Mint Tape off the glass.

Add a little ribbon to the pocket watch and trim off any excess (I uses up some old trim from my stash).
Attach the back of the pocket watch to the front. Use 2-3 layers of 2mm thick foam adhesive to attach the Pocket Watch to the Vignette Box (I added a little bit of hot glue to the sides of the foam and Watch to ensure they stay in place long-term).
Do the same for the insect, adding foam adhesive and hot glue to the back, then use hot glue to attach the foam on the insect to the pocket watch.
Then use foam adhesive and Express Glue to attach flowers and leaves around the pocket watch.
Pop on a chipboard sticker sentiment and some Iridescent Dew Drops using the wax tip on the Craft Pick and Express Glue.
