SBC Fest Vicki Boutin Class: Colorful Summer Scrapbook Layout

by - 1:00:00 PM

Spring 2026 SBC Fest was full of inspiration, including some scrapbook layouts in the Vicki Boutin class. Here's one of my takes on her class.

Hi, crafty friend! SBC Fest is a free day full of classes from various instructors sharing a variety of techniques and ideas! Now if you missed it, don't worry, you can always rewatch previous SBC Fests--they are always free and will remain free because Scrapbook.com believes in sharing inspiration for free.

But let's get into that this blog post is all about--one of my takes on the layouts that Vicki Boutin shared in her class from the Spring 2026 SBC Fest! Vicki shared 3 double-paged layouts with a very grid-style layout. What I loved about these was layouts was all the simple techniques she used to create layered embellished pages. She used ephemera, cardstock stickers, foam stickers, and foam adhesive to create wonderful little layers on her page.

I decided to expound upon that idea by adding in elements from her new collection with Sizzix, like the Double Edgers Thinlits set, and by making my page a little less grid style and more to my "natural flow" style where things are arranged in a more organic nature.

I loved the idea of how she layered her papers so that they took up a certain amount of the page, for instance, one pattern would take up 2/3 of the page and the other pattern the other 1/3 of the page. But instead of that clean line grid setup, I tore my paper edges and layered them together, then let a little bit of white cardstock peek out on one side.

Here's my step-by-step process:

  • Use a piece of Scrapbook.com's 12x12 White Mixed Media Cardstock as the base layer of your scrapbook page.
  • Choose 2 coordinating patterns from Vicki's 12x12 Cut and Paste Paper Pad that is part of her 2026 Class Essentials Kit.
  • Tear one side of each of these papers and layer them together. Add some optional stitching if you like.
  • Glue these patterned papers down to your white cardstock base using Scrapbook.com's Dotted Adhesive Roller. Then roll the torn edges up a little for more dimension.

  • Matte your photos using some of the solid cardstocks in the 12x12 Cut and Paste Paper Pad. I liked how Vicki double matted one of her photos on one page to look like a Polaroid photo, so I did that with the square photo on my layout. Use Dotted adhesive to glue the photos and mattes together.
  • Die cut 2 of the Double Edgers from some coordinating solid colors. Cut on of the Double Edgers down the center with a pair of scissors. Then stack them together and add one of the border strips from a Cut and Paste Cardstock sticker sheet on top. You can glue these together, or sew them together like I did.
  • Roll the edges of the Edgers up a bit for dimension and then add it and the photos to the page with foam adhesive.

  • I added another border cardstock sticker under the edgers directly to the page as well.
  • Using the leaf stamp in the Class Kit and the Greenery Layers #1 Stamp and Framelit Set from Vicki's collection with Sizzix, stamp out some leaves on the green cardstock in the paper pad with black ink, and then die cut them with the coordinating die.

  • Do the same with some of the smaller flowers in the Floral Layers #1 Stamp and Framelit set using another color of paper in the pad and die cut these out as well.
  • Layer your title ephemera, velum and cardstock ephemera, cardstock stickers, foam stickers and stamped and die cut elements around your photos and Edgers in a way that is pleasing to your eye. I used a combo of foam and dotted adhesive to glue everything in place. Don't forget to also tuck some of your elements under the rolled edge of the patterned papers too!

I hope that you enjoyed my take on Vicki's fun SBC Fest class. I'll be sharing another layout idea with much o the same ideas and techniques, just in a masculine color theme later on, as well as my takes on Laura Graff's card class from this SBC Fest as well. Until next time, happy crafting!
