How to Add Shimmer Flakes Glitter to Paper Flowers and Modeling Paste
If you know me, then you know my motto is that you can never have too much sparkle and texture! I've got a double-paged scrapbook layout tutorial sharing how you can add the Scrapbook.com Shimmer Flakes to your Cloud Whip and paper flowers!
Hey, crafty friend! I'm back with another tutorial video on the Scrapbook.com channel sharing how I used their Magic Meadow collection and their Shimmer Flakes--a super chunky iridescent glitter, to create some beautiful scrapbook layouts with a touch of mixed media charm!
With this set of layouts, I share two ways to add this sparkly goodness, plus how you can create textured backgrounds and embellishments with patterned paper.
You can shop all of the supplies used for these layouts at the bottom of this post!
You definitely don't want to miss this tutorial, so make sure you head over and watch the video now! But while you are here, I'm sharing a few of my tips that help keep my craft desk organized and clean while crafting, which can be especially helpful when you get a little mess with mixed media.
First, I love to use the Scrapbook.com Stack-n-Sort Trays in a lot of different ways. I use them to:
- Hold ephemera, so I can easily look through all the pretty pieces without losing anything.
- Place my trash and recycling in, so I don't have to keep walking over to my trash and recycling bins.
- Hold my die cuts while cutting, gluing and assembling onto my project.
- Hold my tools, especially things like the Craft Pick which have a tendency to roll around on my work surface if not contained.
I also love to use the Scrapbook.com Bins--both sizes! I use these to organize supplies throughout my craft room, but having a spare one on my desk is perfect for holding larger supplies for a project while I'm working. For this particular project, I held some of my tools and supplies in the Small Frost Storage Bin while working.
If you've visited my blog before, you know I love to be as eco-friendly as possible in my craft room. So I'm really loving the Scrapbook.com Crafty Clean-Up Cloths. These super absorbent microfiber towels come in pink or black and includes 20 tear-away cloths.
Each cloth is designed to be washed up to 50 times, so you can use these to clean up messes in your craft space for quite a while before you need a new roll. I've even bought additional rolls to keep in my car, bathroom and kitchen! I use these to clothes to clean my work surface, my stamping platforms and blocks, to wipe excess paint of brushes, clean up spills and so much more.
Lastly, I can't live without my Sizzix Gotcha Stand. This little magnetic craft stand is small, so it doesn't take up a ton of room on your desk, but the magnet is super powerful! I mostly use it to hold my metal dies while crafting, but I've also used it to hold pins and embroidery needles while working on fabric-based projects, like felt plushies or embroidery hoops.
Now don't forget to head over and watch that video--and if you loved this mixed media layout, check out how I used the latest Sizzix Studio stamp and stencil release to make a dreamy mixed media layout with Shimmer Flakes and foil. Until next time, happy crafting!
