Day 5 Basic Pocket + DIY Seed Packet: 14 Days of Love Memorydex Valentine's Advent Calendar
All things grow with love.
It's day 5 of my 14 Days of Love Memorydex Valentine's Advent Calendar and today features a basic pocket that holds a DIY packet of seeds that perfect for planting or using as a sachet.
I created this pocket using 2 Memorydex card die cuts. I trimmed one down and then punched out a half-circle to make it easier to grab what's inside the pocket. I then used inked the edges with Distress Oxide in peacock feathers and then my sewing machine to stitch the two pieces together.
To make the seed packet, I placed about a tablespoon of dried lavender seeds (that I grew myself!) into a small glassine bag. I folded over the opening and glued it closed with a small bit of repositionable adhesive. I then attached the seed packet to an ephemera card from the With Love collection with a bit of 1/8" adhesive and slid it into the Memorydex pocket.
I picked out a bunch of flowers from the With Love collection ephemera and fussy cut a few other elements from the 8x8 paper pad. I edged most of my ephemera with Distress Oxides and then layered them on with foam mounting squares. I added a heart-shaped floral from the same collection with a bit of Smart Glue as well.
I die cut out the word "inspire" from the Scrapbook.com inspirational life sentiments word die set in a light aqua cardstock. I used an adhesive sheet on the back of the cardstock to make it easier to glue down the die cut script word, placing it over the floral and ephemera. Finally, I added on a butterfly ephemera to the seed packet, some gems and a resin flower to finish it off.
Make sure that you come back tomorrow for day 6 of my Memorydex advent calendar!
