I love an embellished memorydex card and this Scrap Diva Designs die offers the perfect opportunity to showcase some sweet little butterflies on a DIY layered memorydex card.

Hi, crafty friend! This is definitely a metal die that I will be returning to again—I just couldn’t decide what little elements from this layered set I wanted to use—the tiny butterflies connected together in a little line, or the round butterfly doily like layer.

As you can see, I used the small butterflies connected together along with some other little embellishments to create a sweet set of layered memorydex cards. I pulled out my some papers I still had leftover from Prima’s In Full Bloom collection to make the base of this memorydex, then used some textured cardstock for the flower and leaves. Since In Full Bloom is sold out pretty much everywhere (it’s been a year or more since its release), I recommend using whatever spring patterned papers you love. So below I’ve got the main supplies, like the Scrap Diva dies, ReneaBouquets butterflies and pom pom trim.

So let’s get into this tutorial! Start by cutting out the base of the Spring Memorydex die from some patterned paper. I cut this twice so I could control what was on the backside of the memorydex card and glued the two cuts back to back.

Then cut the stitched circle center from the die set from another coordinating patterned paper. I also used a nested circle die from my stash to create a layer under this stitched circle piece. On this circle piece, hot glue or sew the pom pom trim onto the backside.

Then layer the stitched circle on top with 1mm thick foam adhesive. Adhere the two circles with the trim to the memorydex base using 2 or 3 mm thick foam adhesive.

Die cut the two sets of butterfly dies from some cardstock. I used a very light purple and a medium purple for this. Using a precision tip glue applicator, add a tiny dot of liquid glue to the center of each butterfly and glue the top layer on. Once dry, you can bend those itty bitty wings up for dimension.

Die cut a flower and some leaves for each memorydex card you make. Shape them with some shaping tools and then add a gem to the center of the flower after gluing the flower petal layers together.

I used some ephemera from In Full Bloom on top of the stitched circle. This ephemera was a wreath of daisies with a sentiment, which I covered up with another circle I cut using the nested circle die from my stash. You can add your own ephemera here, or opt to leave this off entirely.

Add some lace, if you like off to the bottom side of your circles and then add the flower and leaves on top. Then tuck in the die cut butterflies on either side of the flower cluster so it looks like they are flying away from the flower.

I added a Tiny Treasures ReneaBouquets butterfly to the center of each memorydex after gently bending the wings up. Then to finish each card off, I added some gems and a chipboard sentiment sticker.

These are super cute, and super easy to make and bring all the spring vibes. I hope you enjoyed this little step-by-step and that it inspires you to make something beautiful. Until next time, happy crafting!
