Hey, crafty friends! The summer vibes just keep coming! My niece has a beach/mermaid party this summer so I'm all here for the coastal shabby chic goodness right now.

And speaking of coast shabby chic vibes, if you love a good craft-cation (that craft + vacation), then you need to pick up the Summer Vibes Kit from Prima Marketing now before they run out. You get a ton of Prima goodness, including a whole lotta paper, ephemera and of course flowers! So let's get into how you can use all this pretty goodness by creating your own set of embroidery hoop shakers!

I of course used the Summer Vibes Kit to create these shaker ATCS. Here's what I used from the Kit:
  • 645151 Surfboard 12x12 Paper Pad
  • 645205 Surfboard Chipboard Stickers
  • 647148 Surfboard Ellie Flowers
  • 647162 Surfboard Sunset Beach Flowers
  • 647216 Surfboard Beach Break Flowers
  • 995058 Golden Coast 12x12 Paper Pad
  • 995140 Golden Coast Puffy Stickers
  • 995133 Golden Coast Ephemera (the set with the seahorses)
  • 640040 Golden Coast Ocean Pier Flowers
  • 640132 Golden Coast Redondo Flowers

But there are a few other supplies you'll want to have to create these:

Now let's get into the tutorial! Select the seashell pattern from the Surfboard 12x12 Paper Pad and trace the outer embroidery hoop piece on the paper around the outside of the hoop. Cut the traced circle out. Also trace the outside of the outer embroidery hoop piece onto some acetate and cut the traced circle out.

If you aren't using nesting circle dies, you'll want to trace the outside and inside of the outer piece of the embroidery hoop onto some pink paper from the Surfboard Paper Pad. Then cut the circle and inner circle out, creating a circle frame. If you are using nesting circle dies, use 2 dies that fit the embroidery hoop outer piece to create a frame.

Using a palette knife, spread a little bit of Finn's White Sand Texture Paste through a stencil onto your acetate. Don't spread it over the entire piece of acetate--just keep it to a little half-moon section. Set this aside to dry.

Take the floral cluster patterned paper from the Golden Coast collection and fussy cut a floral cluster for  your embroidery hoop. Then cut the white halo off of the seahorse ephemera piece from the Golden Coast collection.

Once the texture paste is dry on the acetate, you can begin assembling your shaker hoop! Start by using a little liquid glue to adhere the seashell paper to the back of the embroidery hoop. Add some Memory Hardware Pearls and iridescent baubles to the inside of the hoop.

Using liquid glue, add the acetate to the top of your embroidery hoop, closing the pearls and baubles in. Then use a little more liquid glue to glue the pink frame over the top of the acetate.

Using some titanium scissors, cut the stemmed flowers below the top 2 flowers, creating a shorter stemmed flower. Shape it to fit around the embroidery hoop and hot glue the flowers in place with a dab of glue at the bottom of the stem.

Next, layer 1 of the Redondo Beach Flowers (with the beaded centers) on top of the bottom of the stemmed flower. Then add 1 of the larger flowers from the Ocean Pier set just below the stem. Hot glue your seahorse ephemera to the flowers so his little head floats over the stemmed flowers.

Foam adhesive comes in handy during this whole layering process. I use it to help keep things level and supported if I find that something is drooping a little.

Add a little lace to the back of another one of the Redondo Beach Flowers and hot glue the entire piece to the belly of the seahorse. Then Hot glue the fussy cut flower cluster to the top of the Redondo Beach Flower.

To the top of the fussy cut flower cluster, add one of the Beach Break Flowers and a Chipboard Sticker sentiment. I used a little foam adhesive on the back of the Chipboard Sticker to pop it up a bit more.

Use a small paintbrush to apply a bit of the Soft Matte Gel to the edges of all the flower petals. Then sprinkle on the iridescent glitter and tap off the excess. Add a heart Puffy Sticker to the top of the hoop on the acetate. Then use a little bit of liquid adhesive to pop a few iridescent gems onto the acetate.

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed this sweet mini embroidery hoop shakers! You can give them as an ATC to a fellow artist, or just hang them up in your home by using a little ribbon on the top of the embroidery hoop to hang it up on a hook or nail. Until next time, happy crafting!
