Hello, crafty friend! I'm looking forward to warmer weather and signs of spring! To get ready for the upcoming change of seasons, I decided there was no better way to celebrate my love of Prima Marketing flowers and gardening, than by altering this sweet mini truck into a truck fit for a farmer's market florist.

I picked up this truck from Michaels last spring, but you can certainly use many of the same techniques to alter any mini truck that you find online or at your local craft store. (You can shop all of the Prima Marketing supplies that I used at the bottom of this post.) So let's get into this tutorial!

This truck was white and silver, but I wanted to add a little shabby chic color to it. For the areas I wanted to paint, I first started by priming those surfaces with Finn's Heavy White Gesso. Then I used her Mint Impasto Paint to add a bit of color. For the the semicircular resin cast from the Window to the Soul Mould that I placed on top of the truck, I first painted it with Finn's Clear Gesso then dry brushed the highlights with the same mint paint.

Once the mint paint was dry, I used a hot glue gun to add a bit of lace to the edges of the canopy and to the front windows of the truck. I also applied several of the floral stickers from Prima's The Home Baker Collection Sticker Roll to the sides, back and front of the truck.

I wanted to create a layered shelf look inside of the truck bed to place my containers of bouquets in. I used a piece of thin wood that I painted with White Gesso to create the upper shelf. I glued it in place with Finn's Heavy Body Gel and hot glue. The hot glue helps hold the shelf in place while the Heavy Body Gel, which has a longer cure time but is super durable, dries. I used the same two adhesives to glue the resin cast in place as well.

Next, I created the little floral containers by cutting 1.5 inch by 3 inch strips and die cutting a 3/4 inch circle from a paper in the 6x6 The Home Baker pad. I used the handle of a large paintbrush to help me curl the strips. Then I added a bit of adhesive to one side and created a little tube that stands 1.5 inches high. Then I hot glued the tube onto the die cut circle. I made 5 of these little containers for my truck bed.

To make these a little cuter and to add texture, I tied a bit of the light green and cream yarn from The Home Baker Spools of Yarn. To make little feet for these containers, I hot glued 3 small green pearls from the Memory Hardware Pearls 3 "Fantasy" set onto the bottom of each container.

To make the flower bouquets, I pulled stemmed and small flowers from multiple Prima Marketing collections, including The Home Baker, Lost in Wonderland, Postcards from Paradise, French Blue and Spring Abstract. I didn't always need the full length of the stem, so whatever excess I cut off from those stemmed flowers became the stem for a tiny unstemmed flower, such as the Sugar Sprinkles flowers from The Home Baker collection. If you are working with a canopied truck like mine, make sure you check the height of your bouquets fit!

I created 6 different bouquets and for each bouquet, I cut out a piece of plastic packaging to a 3 inch by 3 inch size. I wrapped the plastic on a diagonal around the bouquet and secured it with a small bit of metallic thread tied into a bow. Pro Tip: Use a pair of tweezers to hold the plastic in place while you tie the thread.

Place a bouquet into each of the containers, using a little glue on the bottom of the bouquet to secure it long-term. Then glue your containers into place in the truck bed or on the shelf. I bought some gardening miniatures and added the watering pail to the shelf as well.

To amp up the flowers even more, I used some larger flowers from Postcards from Paradise and The Home Baker collections to decorate the top of the truck and canopy. I added one last floral sticker to the top of the truck, tucked in some lace, and added a few more of the gardening miniatures. Then I placed a few gems from The Home Baker Say it in Crystals set onto the top of the truck and canopy.

The finishing touch was adding a sign to the back side of the truck. I die cut a label shape twice from some patterned paper from The Home Baker 6x6 Paper Pad and twice from some thick white cardstock. I then stamped the word "Blooms" onto each of the patterned die cuts. Then I glued the layers together to create a double-sided sign.

To hang the sign, I used my Crop-o-dile to punch two holes in the top of the sign and created a little chain with silver jump rings. I attached the top of each chain to some lace and then glued the lace to the inside of the canopy.

I hope that you enjoyed this fun tutorial and that it inspires you to create a spring inspired home decor piece and to use up those stemmed Prima flowers you've been hanging onto and didn't know what to do with. Until next time, happy crafting!
