Memorydex Monday: Be Yourself Prima Watercolor Floral Card
Okay, so I really cannot get enough of this collection! I'll probably make a card with it too so I can just round out this month's series projects with the Watercolor Floral collection from Prima!
I have really loved creating inspirational Memorydex cards. When I'm having a tough day, it's nice to be able to pull out my small collection of cards and take a look at them.
Memorydex cards, like ATCs, are a small project so it makes them perfect for getting your creative juices flowing without the pressure that comes with a card or scrapbook layout.
I began by cutting out my base card using my Vagabond, a Memorydex die and my Magic Mat. I chose to use the more plain side of my paper from the Watercolor Floral collection so that I could build my elements on top of it without worrying about it being too busy. Before adding on my elements, I splattered my card (and as I went with layering, my other elements) with a watered down opal magic paint.
I wanted this to be pretty monochromatic so I stuck to elements that were blue, white or purple-blue in nature. I added a few larger solid blue paper flowers to the base then layered on a large blue flower ephemera piece using 1" foam adhesive.
I then began adding additional flowers and ephemera around and on top of the larger floral ephemera piece. I used heavy body gel to adhere the flowers and Distress Collage Medium to adhere the small ephemera.
to Make sure that even the backside was pretty, I added some Distress Ink in mermaid lagoon with a blending brush to the back sides of the ephemera that hung over the edges of the card or was popped up in the layering. I also tucked some blue velvet trim from Tim Holtz under some of the flowers for a bit of added softness.
I added a sentiment from the ephemera, using a foam square to adhere it in place. I also added a small butterfly chipboard sticker and few gems.
I hope you enjoyed this creation and my tutorial. If you want to learn more about how I layer my flowers, check out my layering tutorial.
Happy Crafting!
