DIY Gingerbread Christmas Ornaments with Puffy "Icing"
'Tis the season for making your own Christmas ornaments! These gingerbread style ornaments are super easy to make and even have their own puffy royal "icing."
Hi, crafty friend! This project was a complete and total, "Let me try this and see if it even works," kinda thing and it totally did! I'm so excited to share my tutorial video for these little gingerbread ornaments.
The two main things you'll learn in this tutorial video include how to color MDF shapes with ink so it sticks, and how to get that puffy royal icing look!
Just look how perfectly sugared and frosty these ornaments turned out!
And that royal icing is so incredible!! But I will say, that while the art medium used to create this effect is still available at one retailer, you don't want to wait long to pick it up because Sizzix has discontinued this Effectz paste. So make sure to grab your Sizzix Expand Paste from A Cherry On Top Crafts while you still can!
For the backs, I used some Prima Marketing paper to cover the ends of the ribbon used to hang these little ornaments. Plus, I added some flowers and gems. It's like a little double-sided surprise, if you as me!
Okay, just one more picture before reminding you...
...to go watch this tutorial video now!! I hope you love this tutorial and that it inspires you to make some sweet holiday ornaments this season. I can just see these hanging on the tree or a stocking, or adorning a Christmas present. Until next time, happy crafting!
