Mixing and Matching Lost in Wonderland & In Full Bloom Collections

When you look at Lost in Wonderland and In Full Bloom, you wouldn’t think that these two collections could mix and match, but the soft purples, pinks and mauves go really well together.

Hey, crafty friends! I really wished I had filmed this project because I love how it turned out, but it just wasn’t in the cards with all of the things on my plate right now. That’s okay, because I’ll talk you through my process here, and I did take one photo of the base of the canvas after adding color to it!

So first I want to talk a little mixing and matching. For today, the Prima Design Team members were asked to create a project using one of The 3 Girls Tale collections. They currently have 4 collections: Aquarelle Dreams, Postcards from Paradise, Lost in Wonderland and In Full Bloom. For this project, I wanted to combine flowers from Lost in Wonderland and In Full Bloom. But I also tucked in a little lace from Postcards from Paradise!

Let’s get into the tutorial. I used a small circular canvas panel for the base of the project. I applied Finnabair’s Modeling Paste through the Secret Letters stencil. I set this aside to dry while I worked on fussy cutting the hare out of the 12x12 Lost in Wonderland pad’s cutout sheet and some flowers from the 12x12 In Full Bloom pad’s cutout sheet.

Once the modeling paste was dry, I used some Art Philosophy watercolors from the Pastel Dreams palette to add color to the canvas. I divided the canvas diagonally, applying purple to one side and pink to the other. Then I did the same to one of the square Baroque Frames mould. I also applied purple watercolor to the pocket watch from the Lost in Wonderland Following Alice Mould.

The final bits of prep work before adding things to the canvas, was adding some Pearl White Metallique Paint to a piece of floral chipboard from Reneabouquets, and to glue the hare into the frame. I added some cardboard box to the back of the hare to help hold him up over time so he wouldn’t droop.

To glue everything down, I used a mix of heavy body gel and hot glue. I used hot glue on the flowers holding the frame and the frame itself—everything else got heavy body gel. I put one of the large mauve flowers from Midnight Beauty on the pink corner and a purple flower from Calm Breeze on the purple corner. Then I placed the frame on top.

I layered medium purple flowers from Meadow Walk and medium pink flowers from Mystic Wildflower and Mystical Land. I also tucked in Postcards from Paradise Lace. Then I added the flower chipboard in as well.

Each side of the frame got a flower from the Sunday Afternoon set. Then I added in a couple of mauve flowers from Enchanted Garden and tucked in the fussy cut flowers and the pocket watch mould.

To highlight texture even more, and to add a shabby chic touch, I dry brushed White Gesso over the moulds and flowers. I also painted gesso onto the edge of my canvas board, as you could see the brown core on it.

I love adding art stones to my projects so I pulled out my Soft Matte Gel and applied some art stones to various spots on the canvas and flowers. Then I added some pink and purple pearls from the Memory Hardware Pearls “Nightfall” set. And you knew I couldn’t finish a project without adding some bling to it. So I added some of the Sugar Art Melange Gems.

I hope that you love this project as much as I do! What 3 Girls Tale collections would you try mixing and matching? Leave a comment below, and until next time, happy crafting!
