Nature Inspired Christmas Card
My family is Austrian and that means we celebrate on Christmas Eve. So I love anything having to do with Christmas night, especially stars and the carol Silent Night (or as my family says it, Stille Nacht).
So when I got Scrapbook.com's Good Tidings of Great Joy stamp set in the mail, I squealed in delight over the "oh star of wonder star of night" sentiment. I new that I needed to use this stamp and that I needed to honor my Austrian heritage with a nighttime snowcapped mountain scene.
I started out by using Tim Holtz's Distress Oxide ink in Faded Jeans to create my night sky by directly blending it onto a Neenah Solar White A2 scored card. I also blended the same ink onto a flat card to use for my sentiment then spritzed the card and flat card lightly with water to create stars in the night sky. I used my Ranger Heat It tool to speed up the drying time. I then stamped my sentiment out with a clear embossing ink then embossed it with a silver embossing powder then cut it out with a paper trimmer.
Next, I used Tim's Alpine die set to cut out 2 sets of mountains and one set of trees from more of the Neenah Solar White flat card. I also cut out a star from Tim's Regions Beyond die set (I love a good versatile die!) from some metallic silver cardstock.
I inked all of my dies using various Distress Oxides and cut down one set of mountains so I wouldn't have a repeat. I used my glue runner, foam mounting squares and Distress Collage Medium to glue down my little scene. So gorgeous yet so easy.
Happy Cardmaking!
