Pocket Page Scrapbook with Prima Marketing's From the North Pole

Prima Marketing isn't just for mixed media, but scrapbooking too. Check out these sweet pocket page ideas using the From the North Pole collection.

Hey, crafty friends! I know that so many of you see the amazing mixed media projects done by all of the Prima Marketing Design Team and feel that Prima products aren't for them if they do other paper crafts. But I'm here to tell you that Prima is for all crafters!

Now I love a good 12x12 layout, but pocket pages are a fun and fast way to knock out several pages of photos! Let's get into these ideas! (Oh, and you can shop all of the supplies I used at the bottom of this post!)

We'll come back to the cover of this album in a moment because I want to focus on what's inside the album first. I always love putting a title page in for the first page. This album is photos of family and family traditions at Christmas, so it added a die cut title of "family." This title is three layers of cardstock for each letter and glued to the outside of the pocket page. I also tucked a From the North Pole floral ephemera piece behind the title. Inside the pocket is one of the vellum sheets from the 6x8 paper pad in the collection.

The next page has a piece of the 6x8 paper with a floral pattern on it. I love creating interactive elements. So this photo is part of a little book that you can pull out from the "belly band" wrapped around it. The belly band is what is attached to the plastic page protector and the fussy cut gift and floral ephemera are glued to the belly band.

This allows you to pull the mini booklet out and open it up. You can add multiple pages to your booklet, but I just had one more photo for this page, so my booklet is more like a mini card. I added one of the stickers from the sticker roll to the bottom left side of this booklet and a photo on the right side.

The next two pages include quite a few different elements. Let's focus on the left page first.

I wanted to try adding a rub on transfer to the outside of a pocket page. So I tested it out on this page, chasing the candy cane and XMAS rub on transfer. Take your time when applying so that you get a good transfer. Then I added some ephemera, using foam and permanent roller adhesives.

On the right side page, I have a 3x4 journaling card in the upper left pocket and a photo in the upper right pocket. The bottom pocket is a 4x6 pocket and I made this another interactive element. This is a 6x7.75 inch piece of cardstock that I scored at 4 inches. I added a little lace near the fold and a chipboard sticker on the front.

The top flap stays outside of the pocket so you can open it up. I added a piece of ephemera and some notched banners to the top and a 4x6 journaling card to the bottom.

The next set of pages features the backside of the previous page (3x4s and a 4x6 set of pockets) as well as a 4x6 vertical pocket which allows the next page to peek through a bit.

The left page has the backside of a 3x4 journaling card in the top left pocket with a sticker from the sticker roll on top of the pocket. I also added a chipboard sticker and a gem to the outside as well. The upper right pocket has a photo inside and some ephemera on the outside. You can see a little tag tucked into the pocket as well. This tag is slid between the photo and the 3x4 journaling card on the other side. I used some tags from the tag set and glued two back to back and added some twine to the top.

The bottom pocket has a 4x6 photo of my advent calendar. On top of the pocket, I added one of the 4x6 vellum pieces from the 6x8 paper pad. I scored it on the left side and added a strip of paper. This strip is where I put adhesive to glue the vellum to the outside of the pocket.

Now let's talk about this vertical 4x6 pocket! The top paper in this tag is a vertical 4x6 journaling card from the collection. Inside is a tag that is a little taller than the pocket. To the top of the tag, I've attached a little stocking and one of the gingerbread men tags with some twine and a jingle bell.

The tag itself has a 4x6 photo attached to it. And to see the photo, you just have to slide the tag out!

On the back side of the vertical 4x6 pocket you can see the back side of the tag. But I also slipped in another element, which we'll get to in a second.

On the outside of the pocket, I attached ephemera and gems!

Now to what else I slipped inside this pocket! I added one of the postcards and envelopes inside the pocket. And of course one of the little stickers went on the envelope.

And here is what I tucked inside the envelope. I added a postcard that I glued some ephemera on to and tucked in another one of the tags.

The other side is relatively simple. I cut one of the 6x8 pieces of paper into a 4x4 and four 2x2 pieces and inserted them into the pockets. The bottom pocket got a 4x4 photo of my niece (holding her "Jack Skellington" doll). On the outside of the pockets with paper, I added stickers from the sticker roll and chipboard sticker, as well as ephemera and gems.

The last page is similar with stickers from the sticker roll and ephemera and a tag stuck to the outside of the pockets with paper.

Now let's talk about the outside a bit! This is one of the velvet albums from Scrapbook.com, but I wanted to add my own little Prima "twist" to the cover. It's totally optional, but a good way to dip your toes into mixed media if you haven't tried it yet. This medallion is fully removable and not glued to the outside of the album. To create it, I cut out two circles of patterned paper and two circles of chipboard slightly smaller than the paper circles.

The floral paper was distressed on the edges and glued to one of the chipboard circles with soft matte gel. Then I added a hint of modeling paste through a stencil. The other patterned paper was also distressed and glued to the back of the other chipboard circle.

Once the soft matte gel was dry, I glued some chiffon ribbon to chipboard side of the top circle with the same matte gel, making the ribbon longer on one side. (This allows me to wrap the ribbon around the album and tie it in a bow on the side.) Then I added soft matte gel over the entire chipboard piece and glued the paper covered chipboard circles together, sandwiching the ribbon in between.

Then I decorated the top of the medallion with some Redesign moulds that were painted and foiled with Finn's Metallic Flakes. Then I piled on some flowers from the From the North Pole and Nature Academia collections. The final touch was some lace, crystals and a chipboard sticker.

I hope that this makes you feel Prima Marketing's products are more accessible to you no matter the type of paper crafting you do! Plus, the new 6x8 paper pad in the From the North Pole collection is absolutely perfect for this size album. Until next time, happy crafting!
