Dive In: A Beach Themed Scrapbook Page

Hello, my friends!  After a whole week of not scrapping or crafting I finally got back into the swing of things this past week.  

I created this layout for CSI case #160.  These are the perfect colors for a beach themed layout!

Gesso and white sand paste add texture while the layering of die cuts adds depth.
Crystals and pebbles add sparkle and shine and a hidden journaling card
can be pulled out of the map pocket.  

Instead of doing one large photo based off the sketch for the challenge, I decided to leave a ton of white space so I started out by covering half of my white cardstock with some patterned paper from MME then applying gesso through a stencil.  I cut pieces of an ogee background out of kraft paper to simulate a fishing net then covered it in Prima's Art Extravagance Sand Texture paste in white.  Then I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Stains and Sprays to color the pieces in green-blues.

Distress Inks adds color and texture.  Crystals and gems add sparkle and shine.  

I cut a swirl out of dark green and matted the photo  over a deep, dusty teal.  Then I began layering on all my elements, topping it all off with pretty minty green and deep teal flowers and crystals.

I just love the deep teal color of the gumdrops colored with Adirondack alcohol ink in stream and the amazing texture of the Prima Timeless Memories crystals--it reminds me of fish scales!

I finished off my layout by adding a tag with journaling that slips into the map pocket and tied crinkle ribbon colored with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine in seafoam. 

Journaling reads:  "We really enjoyed exploring the tidal pools.  The anemones were lovely."
